the strength of this past TYPHOON: it MOVED MY WASHING MACHINE!!! no joke. typhoon 23, 24 is on the way. on wednesday i was having the eye free day off day, and i only poked my head outside once. thats when i saw that my washing machine had been lifted off its perch on th little platform next to my door. its was leaning forward against the wall to the stairwell. damn i should ve taken a pic. maybe ill move it back and take one someday. i was freaked so i pushed it back right away. its a little nook where there is cement on two sides of the machine so i dont want to think what happens to ppl who are out in that weather.
MASHI is a love-starved maniac: not in a scary way. she just follows me around the house when i ve only gotten up to brush my teeth or get a drink. she just yaps and yaps and i give her food and milk and water. i open the door in case she wants to go out. but im pretty sure all she wants is for me to sit the HELL back down so she can sit on my lap. how cute. i LOVE cats.
im thinking about ordering orange pumpkins online to make a jack o' lantern. is that crazy? because i just did it. i went to the foreign buyer's club and bought a pumpkin, a pumpkin light and some mexican seasonings for making guac and salsa. i think that what im missing the most. i have some tabasco sauce and tangy ketchup, but its just not cuttin it. i also have they spicy habanero pepper chip objects that are so spicy i had to mix them into my party mix of rice crackers and peas and stuff to withstand the spice. thats weird. wasabi is hot, but their interpretation of curry is sooo bland. i mean its good, but not hot. meanwhile india queen lets you pick 1-10 on the hotness scale and if you pick more than 4, you can t feel you tongue or how much you are being burned. some ppl like that.
my EYE: its almost better, i still feel the swelling but i think its pretty unnoticeable and could be chalked up to weird asian eye assymmetry. (i cant spell that word) btw, its true what they say about the workplace. there is no privacy. i mean, my eye is visible and i talked to a few senseis, but everyone keeps asking about it. its ok, they re being nice, but i suspect it would be the same if i had explosive diarhea or something.
more HALLOWEEN: i was too lazy to think of something else for the 3rd years to do so since its still not halloween yet, i gave them more halloween stuff. just jumbles and wordsearches. another short explanation. then i showed some pics of costumes and trick or treating and let them ask questions and check it out. one class was really funny. one kid, who looks like he is at least 25, and loves track and field, replied to who is this (frankenstein) by naming his friend next to him. HAHA. we had a good laugh about that one. they understood what i said and then joked about some of it. thats really good i think. JYOUZU NE! that guy is like the jailbait of the school if we had any. but some of the other guys are so pretty and into their hair, they are surely J-pop idols in the making. i have learned some halloween vocab tho. i pick up a few words per lesson by hearing it tranlated so many times by my JTEs. its kind of sad that the lean towards amreican english means that other ppl have to try to explain a holiday that they dont celebrate. i mean "celebrate" is a loose term since its not religious, its just candy and costumes and sometimes mischief if you are a bad boy or girl. im going 2 hrs south to KAINAN to go to the ALT halloween party. gotta find a costume!!
TEX MEX: ViVi and i had to reschedule our mexican night since the typhoon struck, but im hankerin for some thing on a tortilla! there is a guy from LA who has a little stand or window or something with a few tables in the city. thats where we re going. there s also a mexican restaurant more japanified, but i want some authentic american texmex style. i mean, that is, i want it americanized, not japanified. its still not really mexican. but still-YUM!!
THIS WEEKEND: lily is coming down from takamatsu area to visit. neat. i dont know what we ll do. i think she might get here too late to see the naruto festival. i also hear the this festival is more kid oriented. well, whatever. just having plans is good. and getting together with someone from another ken is pretty advanced. yay DART!
