WELL, the ken in jyanken means fist. that makes sense. ill probably never know more let alone the second chant. i agree, quite flustering. but useful for all disputes no matter what your age or what the stakes. i bet the Prime Minister Koizumi does it daily. he looks kind of like a JAPANESE RICHARD GERE. google him. its true.
letter from Natsumi:
Dear: Joanna
I should have written to you earlier. Don’t think ill of me for not writing for a long time. In the first and second terms we have midterm and term-end exami-nations, but inthe third term ew have only a term-end examination.
I don’t think I am below the aver-age. I’m above the average in the order of merit. I like English best of all the subjects.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Your penpal
Natsumi Konishi
P.S. Please let me know in your next letter what Japanese things you are interested in. Please help me improve my English. I am sorry I kept you waiting for long for my letter. I have been very busy with my entrance examination.
HOLY CRAP! this girl is from AGRO SCHOOL! wow! im really impressed. i HAVE BEEN very busy?!?! i SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN?!?!? wow. she CANT talk when i go to her class tho. but she was clinging to my arm at the sports day. today will be more HALLOWEEN.
i tend to bring things home to do but i never do them. laundry, among other things, really needs to be done. and this free japanese course thru the mail that is offered to JETs is possibly beyond the mediocrity of the review i heard of it. it does really teach you so much as just ask you questions that you get wrong after spending way too long looking stuff up in the dictionary. but now i have my wordtank. the thing is, if i dont complete the test and get a decent score and mail it in on time, i cant get the next book. and if im really late i cant get the next book EVER. nevermind the certificate of completion. i dont care about that. anyway, i welcome a kick in the ass from anyone who can stuff it in a global priority envelope. only 9 bux….
ASSAULT UNDER COVER OF NIGHT: i think there is one evil mosquito in my apt. it waits for me to go to sleep and turn off the light. then it buzzes in my ear and bites me in my sleep making me crazy. last night, one second after turning off the light and getting into bed, it buzzed. then i flailed wildly at my own face and the air. i turned on the light to try to get it before going to sleep, but its too smart for that. so i retreated under the sheets to protect myself. unfortunately in my sleep i moved and today i have a welt on my wrist and a couple of new bites on my face. if i dont scratch them, i wont have the post-fight-boxer-look, but the one on my wrist is scary! and seriously, it is NOVEMBER, the time for being covered in bug bites has long past. being stung by a crazy bee would be much more appropriate, but i do not invite that either. i just want to be itch free for a while!

hey joj – hope you’re doing well! that’s funny that you know the japanese version of “rock paper scissors” – in HI we have our own mixed version of “janken-a-po. i-can-a-show!”
yeah, crazy J mosquitos! I have a fly in my apartment that buzzes my head at night, no fun either but at least it doesn’t bite!
