thanks avril! your song IM WITH YOU is so simple, that my classes of 3rd years can sort of understand it with only about 15 points of review. thats not half bad! if only they cared or could pay attn for long enough to hear me explain one verse. well, you can win em all. i had about 3 girls paying attn today. and literally half the class was sleeping. GOOD! could be way worse! next is some BSB, maybe some EMINEM and then maybe CARPENTERS or BEATLES. they also know SIMON and GARFUNKEL. and they know a little WHAM! and MR BIG. neat! the cooler kids like GREEN DAY, SUM-41, YELLOWCARD, and rock stuff. ME TOO! i kind of understand how international music can work. i know a few japanese songs that are cool, but i certainly cant understand much. i can hear I LIKE YOU, I LOVE YOU, THANK YOU, and not much else. wow, international language indeed.
curry donut! weiner donut! so when i forget to order a bento lunch, usually when i have class 1st and 2nd period, i go to the bakery down the street near the bank and post office. today i got a sandwich, a croissant with a small hot dog and a bunch of sauces and lettuce in it, and a curry donut. the sauces were mayo, mustard and some dark soy-like tasty concoction. DELISH! i can read katakana (ka-re do-na-tsu) so i wasnt surprised (poor jeyku), but it was still weird. not bad tho. like puffy bread with curry inside. and earlier, on the way back from the chiiori house, i had a weiner donut. it was a hotdog on a stick with some donut batter around it and ketchup on the outside. WEIRD! but still YUM! most japanese food with bread is kind of dessert-like, but its weird that they would move curry over to dessert instead of making bread more meal-like. sometimes its tough to find bread that doesnt have custard in it. i made this mistake early on with what looked like a yummy baguette. now i know a couple of places that have thin (normal) sliced bread and also french (sort of ) baguettes sans custard. they re not crispy like they should be tho so some time in the toaster does the trick. O FRANCE! no wonder there are bakeries on every corner! you do it right, and o so fresh! tu me manques!
BTdub!! the kids clean the school everyday at the end of the day. we were all impressed with that when we heard it as school kids. made me feel pretty ungrateful as a kid. but in reality, the school is really dirty, they sweep, but do a crap job. dust bunnies abound, spiders set up shop in easy to reach places and the bathroom! well, im glad im squatting where i dont have to touch anything. it requires a bit more concentration tho. they even clean in the teacher's room. this might be cool if once a month, NAY once a year!! they actually cleaned for real like with a MOP! i doubt thats ever happened. so the whole wearing slippers inside thing is just to retard the build up of dirt, not really to avoid getting the floor dirty. it s already dirty. id sooner eat off the floor of my high school in NJ. at least i know that one gets cleaned regularly.
THE JACK O LANTERN is rotting. everyone is very sad. there are weird moldy strings happening inside. crazy japanese mold.
LETTERS: two students wrote me letters!! so for Itano HS, that makes 3 letters in all. one pity letter from Carter, and two from girls in his homeroom. he shaved his head too, so he still tall, but harder to spot for some reason. the girls said they like it. tehe. QUESTION: if you were 17 years old and you barely spoke the language, would you *want* to talk to a 22 year old from your country? even if she was a teacher? seems like i want to talk to him more than he wants to talk to me. wahh. at least i have other gaijin friends that speak english.

I`m with you on the cleaning thing. I mean they sweep, but half the time people are walking up and down the coridoors when the kids are sweeping, so a lot of it just gets traipsed around again. Also, the kids dont clean the toilets, the janitoress does that and I think it`s once a week. Also, the crates where we put our milk bottles after lunch are outside, and although you`re meant to walk on the wooden planks that are classed as `indoors` a lot of kids just cross the concrete that is classed as outdoors. So yeah, in theory I agree its good, but the reality is that you`re asking a 12 year old to clean the school.
i have senior high and the place is still a mess! 17 year olds!
