  • under OOPS...

yea, i have some more to say about yesterday.  it was a little hectic.

i left the "im not done writing yet" message up all day.  and so i shall leave it- forever.  it really was still unfinished, but i forgot about english club so i ended up leaving school late and was supposed to meet ViVi and then i didnt and then i ended up going to marita's bday/dance thing and i was just insane with the whole scheduling thing.  it made me quite stressed.  im all for spontaneity, but i have to have some working back up plan just in case all else fails.  otherwise i get crazy - as you can see.

lily brought me SANUKI fried UDON from her ken.  really yum.  and apparently tokushima has some kind of special ramen.  they have sudachi, but ramen too.  who knew?  there are soooo many regional things that i dont know about.  another reason everyone must bring back gifts from the places they ve been. the extreme regionality also proves you were there.  where else do you get IYA SOBA SNACKS other than the IYA VALLEY?  thats right. nowhere.  and before lily left she cooked a totally sweet spaghetti dinner.  i ran out and got some extra supplies.  we had salad and bread even!  i was so in awe that such a thing was cooked in my house.  SUPER.

MARITA'S BDAY: that was crazy.  it turns out to be the same place that i have been contacting about possibly going for the foreigner dance lessons. it was really nice.  the other students performed too and their mothers came and stuff.  and they had a whole lot of amazing catered food.  not as amazing as i have ever seen, since i was a caterer, but still really nice.  i asked if it was some recital for everyone and it was all just for marita's bday.  how nice of them!   the teacher was super nice, but she was a little crazy.  i am still considering it tho.  a bit of a control freak.  probably a good type to turn out good dancers.  she flies to tokushima from tokyo twice a week!!  she has another school there.  WHOA.  she did things like make everyone intro themselves in english when the kids didnt want to.  "please go ahead.  make me happy" was an actual quote.  the kind of mother type who tells you to cut the cake then watches in disgust as you dont do it the right way.  then she does it anyway.

tons of ppl were there from other towns tho.  other JETs.  so it was nice to see some ppl.  ill see em at the HALLOWEEN PARTY.  its something like 2 hours away for me.  whoa.  kegs and snacks-woot.  cant wait for my PUMPKIN.  i think i will stay at school to do it for whoever wants to help or watch.  yay.

COSTUME?!  i havent got one yet!!  im thinking i might be a waitress with a black half apron, bowtie and order pad from the 100yen store. but i dont have a white shirt!  that would be amusing since its a big party tho. or, i could HAVE A GREEN THUMB and stick fake plants on me and carry a watering can.  not sure.  maybe ill be a ROBBER and get the cash bag from the 100 yen store and wear black.  i didnt see any black masks tho.  hmm. cooling eyemask could work.  a relaxing bandit.

EARTHQUAKE: i didnt feel it, but it was big.  the place where the worst was happens to be rather rural so luckily not many ppl were hurt or killed.  i heard it was 6.9 or something on the Richter.  YIKES!

im trying for tex mex again today.  good luck.  i hope the rain stops.

BTW, i got up 15 mins before im supposed to be at work today.  like, that is when i GOT OUT OF BED!!  its a nice thing to be able to do.  but DONT DO IT!!  i snoozed the usual 30 mins, then turned off the last ditch alarm clock that i have to get out of bed for.  then i RESET (this is effort) the bedside clock and went for the extra half hour.  my step dad called about some loan crap and cut into the 30 mins and you would think after talking to him i would JUST GET UP!!  nope, went back to sleep to squeeze the most out of it.  i blame the DAVINCI CODE.  stupid code.

IDIOMS: how the hell does anyone learn this ridiculous language.  english i mean.  i know a bunch of prepositional verbs in french and that was bad enough.  TAKE a look, HAVE a look, just LOOK dammit.  thats not really an idiom i suppose.  more proverb-like ones that are full expressions are usually worse.  there is some congruency tho.  "its no use closing the gate after the horse has escaped"  you ve heard that or some paraphrase probably.  something like "better safe than sorry"  well, theres a great japanese one that goes "its no use clenching your butt after your farted"  haha.  good one.  i get it.  "even monkeys fall from trees" is a cute one too.  and thats a book too.  i should check that out. sounds neat.  BTW, the doorbell sound DING-DONG is PING-PONG in japanese.  this also means (CORRECT) a la game show style.  the motion for SHOO GO AWAY with the back of your hand means COME HERE. makes sense if you just look at the motion differently.

  • OH what I would do for Tex Mex, or any sort of Mex. mmmmm I miss it.

    Relaxing bandit sounds good.

Or you could just go Yochien Mask style and cut eye holes in a strip of black poster board, staple a rubberband to each end, hook the rubberbands on your ears and voila! You have a mask!

  • "cooling eyemask could work.  a relaxing bandit. "  This quote made my blood boil.  You haven't lost your touch.

haha... the SHOO GO AWAY motion caused so much trouble on my LSA.  like, our prof would tell us to go run an errand, then as we were getting ready to leave on the errand, she'd do the SHOO GO AWAY motion (because she forgot to tell us something and wanted us to come back, not go away).  naturally, we'd start hurrying off toward our errand and she'd get so frustrated and flustered she'd actually stomp her foot.  like a little girl.  cute!
