more awa ben -the awa dialect version of “what are you doing?” (nani o shimasu ka) is “dou nai shion?” this is kind of like “what’s up” i guess. DOU: how/what. NAI: an ellision (ellision?) of nani. SHI: shimasu, to do. and ON: awa ben for KA or question mark. o joy! NANI SHION is also kosher.
this BUG BITE TORTURE is really too much. i ve concluded it cant be a mosquito. this bite is too big and hurting, not so much itching. and i found later that i had a couple more bites. AND the bug is still in the house!! it buzzed near my ear again last night, mocking me. im getting desperate. same with laundry, getting desperate. i mean, is it a spider? a mutant? what? i would ask how it is still alive in the house, but it has clearly been living by eating my flesh. and maybe MASHI’s too! her poor little nose could be in danger!
HIPPU-HOPPU: so hip hop class is looking good. i was going to go for the one in the city because i figured it would be cooler, but going there on the train or driving there and parking would be all too much money or trouble. so luck has that julie was looking around her town, naruto. its much bigger. she found a place with hip hop and aerobics. the hip hop is more expensive than the aerobics, and they re at the same time, but they re both cheaper than the city one. and if i can do it with a friend, that beats going to the city. anyway, there might be some cool ppl there too. the class if for “young ppl only” so i guess under 40? no clue. but as long as there is some thumping bass, some britney and some sweating, i think it will be cool. julie went to one and said she had a blast and a couple of christine’s students were there. so at the very least, we ll meet some really young ppl. my hope is that we will meet some japanese ppl more our own age. read: post high school please.
camping trip coming up this weekend. its raining today so i made extra sure to order lunch so that i dont have to go outside. i hope that it gets done raining before the weekend and we have nice weather for hiking. ive put away the electric carpet, and been wearing a Tshirt, but i havent been inclined to use the heat. or figure it out. the kerosene one especially. i never want to use that one. i guess being on the third floor, the neighbors are cold so they have their heat on and i am benefitting. the weather has been good lately too. swell.
FIREFLY: last night i kicked back and watched the 2 hr first episode AGAIN! this is crazy. i like this show far too much. i dont know if i can give those videos up. there are 20 in two shopping bags. my plan was to give them to someone else or ultimately give them to TOPIAs library at the hospitality center for foreigners, but im starting to think i should just watch them all and then start over until i get sick of it. 20 down and still not done. Amy might have even more. here’s hopin’
.
Jody’s (a canadian guy) pictures from Awa Odori Festival im not in them, but this is what it was like. except i only danced the second night of 3 and i didnt drink much. i was trying to keep my wits about me since i didnt know these ppl very well or the city. i almost didnt make it back to the hotel when i followed that tall model type girl thinking she would know where she was going after living in the city for a year already.
and more HALLOWEEN (Jody’s). i m not in any of these either despite finding jody quite amusing, he is a hard drinker so he is with the other party animals. watch out! there’s some risque ones.
